At Home:    I Sing the Mighty Power of God

God of the covenant, even when we fall into sin, your Spirit invites us to remember
that you chose us to be your servant people.
Awaken us to the power and gifts you pour into us for the good of creation,
and grant that we may be trustworthy in all things, producing abundantly for your realm. Amen.

*HYMN GtG 287 Let Us Come to Worship God

At Home: O Come Let Us Worship Him

During this time that we cannot sing, you are invited to focus on
the meaning of the lyrics, perhaps finding a new depth to favorite hymns.

CALL TO CONFESSION                                      Matthew 3:3
A voice is crying out in the wilderness: Prepare the way of the Lord.
Trusting in God’s grace, let us confess our sin.

Merciful God, we confess that we have wandered from your way of truth and life.
You call us to share all that we have and work together for the common good,
but we hoard up treasures for ourselves and deny others their daily bread.
You call us to set the captives free and seek justice for the oppressed,
but we live in fear of our neighbors and hide ourselves from our own kin.
You call us to walk in newness of life and to be witnesses to the resurrection,
but we dwell in the valley of dry bones and keep silent about your saving love.
Forgive us, God of grace.
Set us free from sin, death and fear so that we may serve you with gladness; through Jesus Christ our Lord.

Hear the good news: God’s love has been poured into our hearts through the gift of the Holy Spirit.
In the name of Jesus Christ, we are forgiven!  Thanks be to God.

The peace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.
(Please share with one another a gesture, offering peace from your seat.)

Glory be to God, creator, redeemer and Holy Spirit, as it was in the beginning, is now and ever shall be.  Amen.

Speak to us, O God, with the voice of your Holy Spirit,
that we may know the way of Jesus Christ our Lord.  Amen.

SCRIPTURE LESSON          Matthew 25:31-46

The Word of the LORD.  Thanks be to God!

HYMN Whatsoever You Do

Bless these gifts, gracious God,
and bless all those who will be served in a new year
because we hope for more in the days ahead.
We hope for a stronger church, a more compassionate world, a time of peace.
Shape us, through our giving, into people more faithful to Your Word,
a people full of joy and good news.
Receive our gifts of money, given from the heart.
We dedicate them along with our lives and all that we are.  Amen.
Doxology        Praise God from whom all blessings flow.
Praise Christ, all people here below.
Praise Holy Spirit evermore,
Praise Triune God, whom we adore.  Amen.

If you would like to share your joys and concerns with the congregation, please call or email the church office.
Holy God, hear us as we pray for your blessing.  Holy God, have mercy on us.
Especially we thank you for the mission and ministry of the church;
every act of service that proclaims your love…
the people and relationships that sustain us…
 our calling to daily discipleship…
signs of new life and hope…
all who care for creation; and work for justice and peace for all people…
(silence will be kept for your specific prayers of thanks.)
Holy God, have mercy on us.

Merciful God, renew this weary world, heal the hurts of all your children,
and bring about your peace for all in Christ Jesus, the living Lord.
Especially we pray for
the church of Jesus Christ in every land…
the stewardship and healing of creation…
 friends and family members…
 neighbors in special need…
all who serve your mission in the world…
leaders, to lead with compassion and honor…
our nation in a time of transition…
all who grieve and lament loss of justice, freedom and life…
(silence will be kept for your specific prayers of intercession.)
Holy God, have mercy on us.

All this we ask of you, Lord God, through Jesus Christ our Savior,
and in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever. Amen.
